The good news/bad news is out on the state of marriage in America, and it is bound to start some chatter. According to “Woman’s Day” magazine and AOL, married women aren’t so sure they would do it all over again if given the chance. But wait! Before you “throw the baby out with the bathwater” so to speak, take heart in the results that showed most women who are married don’t plan to give up on their marriage.
The results are eye opening to say the least. Most of the 35,000 surveyed, married women, 72% in fact, say they have considered leaving their marriage at one time or another, and 57% say they aren’t sure they would marry the same spouse if they had it to do all over again. The silver lining is the response from 71%, who say despite their discontentment, they intend to ride the marriage out to the end.
So, what can we gather from all of this? That’s hard to say really. Either there are a lot of upset married women out there or maybe the married one’s are content enough not to answer a survey.
And hey…I am not above pointing out the fact that there might be just as many men who could answer a survey the same way if asked. So, draw from the survey whatever you will. One thing is for certain, “Womans Day” knows how to sell magazines!
