Radio Roulette
This is a gypsy’s life-this radio business. We all (except for Dino) have experienced the many stops along the way in a long radio career. I have worked at 11 radio stations in 26 years. Many for as short a time as 8 months, because I outgrew my surroundings; others for as long as 13 years because I thought it was a home. Along the way, there have been many formats, morning partners, and experiences. Not every relationship has ended wonderfully, but they never were so completely cruel that I ever lost my love for the business.
So, when our little buddy, our producer Stewie, announced that he was leaving the nest, I was happy for him. I have been there. I know the tug of looking beyond the horizon for the next big thing. Afterall, life is about the journey and not the destination as we have all heard before. He will be missed but he will be fine in life, and so will we. Everything changes as it is supposed to happen.
We will find a new producer and you will probably fall in love with him or her too. Stewie will probably fall in love with his next opportunity. It is a constant….it is referred to as radio roulette. Sometimes the game ends great-other times it is disastrous! It is the chance you take to grow in this or any business.
Dino and I have been together now for 4 1/2 years (God save me!), and we continue to grow and learn about each other everyday. In a lot of ways we have only just begun! And this gypsy has stayed put here for awhile for many reasons: the kids are happy here, it is home for us all, and of course the main reason-I still need to figure out DINO! This could take a big dose of time!!!!
Thank you for taking the journey with me!
