Mount Rushmore Has Nothing On This Big Head!
Don’t mind me-I’m just having a bad hair life! Wow! I got an email over the weekend from a listener who has followed me through my different Columbus radio stops. It’s always great to hear from devoted listeners and it’s a sweet gesture that I truly appreciate! This email though came with a surprise attachment. There in all of it’s Vidal Sassoon glory, was a picture of me with some seriously big hair, circa 1988! !! Did I really look that way? How did I get my hair that poofy? I laugh hard today at those images because I can’t believe we all walked around feeling darn proud of our Duran Duran locks. Wow! Did I mention WOW? Oh, and I will find you friendly devoted listener….you just wait!

Next week I am using my vacation to do the mom thing: “Back To School Shopping”! Ugh! Why don’t I like this task? The obvious–the expense! I swear, clothes for my kids are just about as expensive as mine. Then there is the fact that their clothes are basically rentals at this point with as quickly as they grow. I’ve tried to talk consignment to my kids, but to no avail. I can’t blame them though. I remember from my childhood the fun of new clothes for back to school! My favorite was the new pair of school shoes we got to pick out. They smelled so good! Seriously, I remember the smell!
So as much as I grouse about doing the back to school shopping, I will endure for the sake of a simple memory of the whiff of leather that will tickle my kids later in life. What was your special memory of back to school shopping? Have a great week….see you after the craziness passes!

I can’t help it, but I am addicted to the “Real Housewives” reality shows! I don’t care which city the mayhem stems from, Bravo TV has me snagged-hook-line-and sinker! Why do I like these shows? I feel like I am a reasonably intelligent and together woman, so how did I fall so into the quicksand like I did? Maybe it is my fascination with what happens when wealth meets fairly classless people, and a camera is shoved in their faces. Apparently, I have a lot of company because Bravo has a monster hit on its hands. Atlanta’s girls wrap up their cat fighting tonight and then it is back to the Orange County fighting again, with a new group awaiting their demise in D.C. . Makes you wonder if Columbus could compare if we had our own show. What do you think? Yes, I know; Dino has already thrown my hat in the ring! Oh, and if you really want to know…it’s Dior!

Poor First Lady, Michelle Obama, she is all over the news and taking a beating for wearing shorter-styled, shorts on their family’s vacation out west. Really? Really? Is this all the press has to do- ridicule her fashion choices? First of all, she is toned and long-legged, and every other adjective that would make wearing shorts in public an acceptable choice…plus, she is a modern day, First Lady, and has her own sense of style and persona. So leave the woman alone will you press core of America.! No wonder poor Hillary Clinton hid the ankles the press had dubbed “cankles”. The press is so hard on these women. Didn’t anyone notice Bill was sporting his own beefy, thunder thighs? No–didn’t think so!
What's all the fuss? She has great gams!

We chatted a bit today about the concept of the “Super Mom”. Is it for real? Can a woman have it all and do it all? I say YES, IF she gives herself a break! CNN’s Campbell Brown asserts that she can’t, and the notion doesn’t exist. The true test will come years later for her when she can see her child grown and self-assured, her career or other life accomplishments realized, and her mindset contented. Let Super Mom status come to you Campbell, don’t make yourself nuts seeking it out. Enjoy your own unique, Super Mom version of yourself!

We had a fun exchange today on how some of the hot actors and actresses in Hollywood have lost their looks. You chimed in and helped along the discussion with suggestions of your own. The list included: Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, Brad Pitt, Kenny Rogers, David Hasselhoff, and Pamela Anderson to name a few. It was a fun discussion, but it made me think how hard it must be to be in a medium where so much rides on looks! I am so glad I am on radio! If people haven’t seen me then they can’t be disappointed! Ha! Do you have more to add? You can continue the discussion here or on facebook or twitter. But, before I go, one last look at a looker-gone-bad: Try disputing that one!!!!!

Did you ever look at your life’s events and and try to figure out the messages in them? Last night a rogue wind and pop up thunderstorm hit where I live. It wasn’t predicted, and minutes before it happened the sun was shining brightly. Here’s how the scene went: Cydney and I were minding our own business enjoying a taped episode of “Cake Boss”. Suddenly, a loud “Kaboom”, and my deck furniture was wiped out! Then, Cydney yelled, “Where’s the trampoline?”. We looked out every window…and she was right…it was gone! This makes two trampolines in less than 6 months time that were ripped from their tethers and tossed through the air, landing in a mangled mess. There has to be a message! For me…I want to wax poetic with this thought: “Life may blow me off course, even try to wreck me a bit, but I will just keep bouncing back! Some people just aren’t meant to be tethered down! (Or maybe it’s a simple as, ”I am a little bit flighty”…yeah, that works too!) So…what lesson has life taught you?

OK, I am not trying to sound prudish, but a breastfeeding dolly for kids is just plain weird! The “Bebe Gloton” doll from a spanish manufacturer lets your child pretend to experience breastfeeding “just like mommy does”. Really? Who thought this one up? I’ve been there and believe me…it’s not all that great! It certainly isn’t something my daughter Cydney needed to learn the fine art of during her doll years! A bit too much–don’t you think?
Wow breasfeeding just like mommy! Ugh!

Graham has a sit down session with a photographer for senior pictures today. While he is doing that, I may schedule a sit down session with a lender. Seriously! It is just about that ridculous! In order to have a package that takes care of everyone in my family’s needs I will be paying around $1000! I don’t know if my wedding pictures were even that much! (That was a wise investment in hindsight! )! Graham wants this studio because his soccer buddies used it. Me, I woud rather use someone I have done business with before. But, I lose-he wins! He had better use these pictures for every event in his life from here on out! Either that or become a high paid model who enjoys holding soccer balls! Did you pay this much for your child’s senior pictures?
