So how old do you want to live to be? Is it 80, 90, 100? How about 109 and still kicking? That’s the story of Anna Farris from Orange County who just kicked her first soccer goal at that awe-inspiring age! Anna has a history of athletics having shown up others much younger at the Senior Olympics. She ran (walked) the 100 yard dash with the help of her walker, and out threw the other aged athletes with a 3 yard football toss! Ironically, her secret to longevity is my not-so-protected-secret: good wine and many chocolates! Hooray! I can already see into my future, and the arthritic fingers of my hand are on the laces of a pigskin too (of course the other hand is holding a delicious Chilean Merlot!)!
 Anna now- still kickin’!

I am the owner of one of those traditional foosball tables that rarely gets played, collects dust, but takes up a place of prominence in my recreation room. Now though finally, someone has come up with a table that I know we would play!
Look out for Malibu Barbie! Those west coast girls are tough!

First, let me say Cydney and I loved the pilot episode of the show “Glee”. It was so different and fun and innovative. I looked forward to the series premiere just like many of you. But then, like many of you, was a little taken back that it was a bit more racey than the family-friendly pilot intimated. Don’t get me wrong, I love the show….but it’s for my eyes and not Cydney’s anymore (Graham is totally disinterested). Does that disappoint me? Yes, a bit. But it is Hollywood afterall, and we all know the lines of family fare are a bit blurred there. I guess “Glee” will just be for “me”!

Sadness and moodiness are emotions that work in tandem. For unhappy people they tend to be weapons to use to hurt others. I have never been an unhappy person, and try very hard not to get swept into the maelstrom that occurs when unhappy people pull others into their misery. It can be as simple as a smile at the grocery boy who just got chewed out for something entirely out of his control. I see this often and I always try to compliment them, try to coyly wink as a simple sign of support. They appreciate the understanding. Over the weekend at the gas station, a man yelled at a young girl because the gas station was out of regular unleaded yet it was still on the sign out front. He said to her, “Are you aware the sign is misleading your customers?” Then he demanded that she change it or he was calling corporate. She was basically in tears. I was next in line…so when it was my turn, I said, “Are you aware you have small and large bags of ice?”…she laughed and immediately was disarmed. I was glad I could make her smile. Try it when you see nastiness prevailing, whether at work or at home. Kindness is the great equalizer!

It’s that time! Tomorrow morning at 6 AM, Dino and I embark on our annual radio marathon for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The hospital will be our home and studio beginning tomorrow morning though Friday at 6 PM. Our lessons have been learned from attempting a shorter variation last year…less time on the air meant fewer dollars! And so, we are “all-in” for three straight days this year. It’s a labor of love, and we need your generosity to make things happen. I know times are tough for many; if you can donate even a little we will be grateful! Call #614-722-3800 or give on the form here on www.sunny95.com! Thank you Central Ohio!

The eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and I can’t help but wonder if we any safer today. Sure, we have safeguards in place in the form of Homeland Security, and the FBI has developed terrorism task forces dedicated to nothing but intercepting and diffusing possible plots; both are vast improvements post 9/11. But still, there lingers this uneasiness that our security is still a fleeting reassurance. It’s the scary feeling that we could become complacent and take our eyes off of other potential threats we haven’t even considered. What about our food and water supplies? Are they safe? What about bioterrorism? Is it a real threat? Are these problems or am I just being a Chicken Little? I pray I am the biggest Chicken Little this nation has ever seen!

“American Idol” is an oddity. Season in and season out I find myself saying I am tired of it, but I inevitably watch the thing anyway! Granted, part of my job description requires me to be plugged into pop culture as much as possible, and watching “A.I.” is (like-it-or-not) pop culture . The past few seasons though, I have found my attention waning!
So, now the announcement…Ellen Degeneres is a regular judge! Yea! Do I care that she is not a music expert? No! She enjoys music -as we all do. I think that gives her the common person’s “real” approach to the judges panel. Plus, let’s face it-she is there for comic relief and the fact she is immensly popular. It is a bright move on “American Idol’s” part. I think I might be a tad more excited now about watching yet another LONG season. So, mission accomplished FOX!!!
How do you feel about Ellen as a judge?
