I am onne of those people who openly admits that reason I watch the Super Bowl is simply for the commercials; if a good game breaks out all the better! Last night the good game ended up the bigger draw for me, since many of the commercials seemed to fall flat. There were a few sure-fire hits: The Betty White Snickers spot, The Doritos Kid and Mom’s Date Spot, The Oprah-Letterman-Leno clip, and my perenial favorites-The Etrade Baby spots. What were your favorites? Here’s one of the ones I loved:
I LOVE THE ETRADE BABIES!!!!!

I don’t care how old I am or how many run-ins I have over the years, when I see a mouse, I freak! I was apparently stepping over a dead one all morning long today on the carpet just outside the bathroom. I can’t believe I didn’t notice it until probably the fifth trip, but there it was curled up and dead! I screamed. I shivered. I ran! Why? It was certainly very dead and was not about to scurry past me; I was obviously safe. Still, to this day, those little critters creep me out! What’s the one thing that still freaks you out? Oh, and for the record, the very brave Clark Donley came to my rescue! Chivalry is not dead! I can’t say the same though for the little guy curled up outside the bathroom door!

Cleanse Accomplished. I made it a week on my regimented cleansing plan…and it wasn’t all together too bad. The final stage was a bit trying, but it was the finale so I hung in. After the fact, I lost 6 pounds, and felt good and actually–cleansed (go figure!)! So, today, I ask you: What measures have you taken to lose weight or clean out? Were they crazy? Did they work?

I set out on my cleansing journey last weekend, an attempt to rid my body of toxins and hopefully lose a couple of pounds along the way. The Cleanse entailed..32 oz. of apple juice each day and a vegetarian or vegan diet, no alcohol, very little or no caffeine, warm or room temperature water, and no supplements, all leading up to a last night of a variety of disgusting concoctions I have to drink before bed tonight and when I wake tomorrow. If all goes well and I can choke the stuff down I should be a lighter, healthier girl by the end of the weekend. I have never attempted anything like this and wasn’t sure I could hang tough with it, but I have to admit I am glad I muscled through. Will I be glad by tomorrow? I hope so! If not…I guess I am destined to embrace my lifestyle…oh wait…that’s what got me here in the first place! I’ll let you know Monday! Have a GREAT weekend!

One thing no one in the country can ever crack on our “cowtown” about is our humanitarianism. Columbus is a giving city. In the spirit of giving, the media and government officals and other notables are all coming together in unity tomorrow, hoping that you will be generous yet again. “Hope For Haiti” is tomorrow on the grounds of the Ohio Historical Society from 7 AM-7 PM. Drive up–donate to the American Red Cross–Drive out. No need to even get out of your car! We hope to see you there, because Columbus always cares!

As I watch the grim news accounts of what is happening in Haiti, I am so struck by the sadness of it all. Lives are lost and bodies are treated like trash. Families have their loved ones tossed in garbage heaps into mass graves. It is hard for anyone in a modern civilization to imagine. Katrina was awful, and the Tsunami of 2004 was horrific, but great pains were made to keep people’s memories alive, and identities were at least catalogued when it was possible. Now, Haiti has lost generations- men, women, children. They are faceless and nameless. It is so terribly sad to me.
If you haven’t given to help, please do so. Anything.

OK, first of all this is not an endorsement of any sort. I have not tried this yet, but I have witnessed the end result and so I am jumping in and trying it too beginning Sunday. It is a 6 day cleanse that is supposed to detoxify me, clean up my innerds and, and help me lose weight. I know the science of it makes sense and two of my girlfriends and their doctor husbands have done this cleanse successfully and each averaged a 10 pound weight loss! I figure it’s worth a try! I’ll keep you updated! Bye Bye bad habits….

A discussion for debate at work for some time now has been whether or not blogging is enjoyed and/or even read by our listeners. I really can’t get a feel for it. I am trying to pick up the flag and run with it again because we were told to, but I just can’t tell if blogging is that big of a deal to you, our Dino and Shawn Show faithful. Let me know what you think and then tell me what kind of blogs you enjoy the most. If the demand is there, I will without hesitation dive back in. I hope to hear from you!

Christmas time and my halls are decked, yet, this year I have a quandry! I have cheated on my angel! As the kids and I were decorating we realized the tree this year is a bit shorter, and the 12 inch angel just didn’t look right. She stood like an Amazon woman high atop the pine, and not in a very angelic pose. In fact, she was downright scary up there! She looked like one of the combatants on “The American Gladiator”, TV show! So, the hunt for a smaller in stature, but still heavenly angel took place. I drove high and low, stopped everywhere along Polaris parkway, and came up empty handed! So, for the first time in as long as I can remember, we have a star on the top of our tree this year. It’s pretty…gold, and white, with changing hues when plugged in…but it’s no angel! She sits cozy in her box, back in storage until next year, when you can be sure we will plunk down the extra cash for a bigger tree. I owe her that much!

A great controversy is brewing in the the city of Pittsburgh, and no, it has nothing to do with my Bengals beating up Dino’s Steelers. In fact, this could eclipse even that emotional defeat! The Steel City has an injustice on its hands that deserves to be quieted immediately. They have turned their native son and one of children television’s icons…Mr. Rogers…posthumously into a mud monster statue for eternity! How did this happen? The depiction is not the gentle, shoe-wearing, cardigan-changing, soft-spoken children’s television icon we grew up comforted by each day. And this is the best they could do for the man? I have made sand drizzle sculptures on the beach that looked more flattering! What a shame. The family seemed OK after the fact…but what do you do? You can’t criticize a free public tribute to your loved one. So, there it sits, in it’s “Monster from the Black Lagoon”, glory, for all to see. See if you agree? It’s not such a “wonderful day in the neighborhood”, Mr. Rogers. So Sorry!
(”Apparently King Friday has no say in what takes place outside of the “Land of Make Believe”, or he would have put a stop to this!”)!
